Thank You Tom
I wish to thank Tom Hill for running a positive campaign focused on educational issues. Below is a letter he sent to The Olympian on Aug. 22.
"I wish to thank those who voted and expressed their confidence in my ability to represent in the race for Olympia School District Position 4 Director. The time spent, along with those who I enjoyed interacting with, combined with the opportunity to hear from parents from all areas of the community has assisted in deepening my understanding of the heart felt concerns many parents feel for an open and response School Board. This has been a valuable experience for me.
As we move on to the general election in November, I encourage all of us to be willing to come along our schools, the educators, the administrators and to partner with them to enable our children to be all they are might to be.
Because of the important issues facing the district, difficult policy questions, budget restraints, and the need to establish priorities, I feel we need an individual who has the background, the experience and understanding of those issues to represent us.
The current School Director, Carolyn Barclift has that experience. Carolyn Barclift desires to hear from those who support her, but equally from those who have different points of view. For the position of Olympia School Director Position 4, I encourage you to support Carolyn Barclift.
Tom Hill"

Re-Elect Carolyn Barclift Olympia School Board Pos. 4
carolynbarclift@comcast.net
reelectbarclift@yahoo.com
Here's what people are saying about Carolyn Barclift:
"Carolyn Barclift is a proven and dedicated community servant and school board director. Her service has been recognized statewide. I support Carolyn's continuing service and urge you to support her, too." Mark Foutch
"This August voters will make a critical decision on who will be chosen as Board members to govern the Olympia School District. One candidate stands far above the field in the commitment, experience and knowledge she brings to the position. That candidate is Carolyn Barclift. More importantly, in my view, is her reason for wanting to be re-elected. Carolyn expects excellence in all operations for the benefit of students and has dedicated 8 years of board service striving for that goal. She is caring, fair, works to build consensus on difficult issues and has no personal or hidden agendas.
I spent 40 years in school administration and retired as the Superintendent of the Olympia School District. I know the difficult and complex job of being a good school board member. I also know what qualities a person posses to be an excellent board member.. I am voting for the reelection of Carolyn Barclift because she is the epitome of what we all should hope for in this position. You will too if you want the best for our students." Howard Coble
"As a long-time employee and patron of the Olympia School District, I lend my support to Carolyn Barclift's re-election to the Board of Directors. My experiences with her in educational and personal matters have showed me that she is consistent, reliable, sincere and forthright. Carolyn does her homework, asks the needed tough questions, listens well and has the best interests of the citizens, the staff and the students guiding her decisions. Her experience, record of service and courageous integrity will serve us all well as the District seeks to navigate challenging budget matters; her comprehensive approach to such decisions is much needed. She has earned my endorsement, and another term." Gery Gerst
"I support Carolyn because I know she will keep the needs of the kids, and taxpayers, foremost while making the tough decisions the School Board is facing in the future. She treats the staff and the public with respect, and if she has concerns about anything she will voice those concerns and offer alternatives in a positive manner." John Keeffe
"I've known and worked with Carolyn for many years. She's consistently been a powerful and caring advocate for our youth." Giles Arendt, CYS Outreach Worker
